Histamine release reaction of basophils in chronic granulocytic leukaemia
نویسندگان
چکیده
Basophils possess membrane bound IgE molecules, and immunological activation leads to a secretary process with cell degranulation and histamine release. Heterologous anti IgE, concanavaline A, and phytohaemagglutinin are potent non-cytotoxic releasing agents. They operate by a mechanism similar to that ofimmunological activation. Heavy water is not a histamine releasing inducer but it increases histamine release of the cells. We studied the histamine release reaction of leukaemic basophils in 10 patients and found a physiological response such as that previously reported with normal human basophils.

BACKGROUND Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), especially aspirin, and food additives (FAs) may exacerbate allergic symptoms in patients with chronic idiopathic urticaria and food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA). Augmentation of histamine release from human mast cells and basophils by those substances is speculated to be the cause of exacerbated allergic symptoms. We ...
متن کاملMacrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha activates basophils and mast cells
Macrophage inflammatory protein-1 (MIP) is a recently cloned cytokine that causes neutrophilic infiltration and induces an inflammatory response. We studied the effect of MIP-1 alpha on histamine secretion from basophils and mast cells. Leukocytes from allergic and normal subjects were studied. MIP-1 alpha caused dose-dependent release of histamine from basophils of 14 of 20 allergic donors at ...

Histamine This is concentrated in granular depots within both mast cells and circulating basophils. The Type I mast cells found close to the arterioles and venules seem more important in this regard than the larger, regularly shaped, Type II cells scattered in the perivascular supporting tissues (Beaven, 1976a). Histamine release is accompanied by degranulation of the mast cells and basophils a...
متن کاملDefective histamine release in chronic urticaria.
Histamine release from peripheral blood leukocytes challenged with anti-human IgE was studied in patients with chronic urticaria and nonatopic controls. 19 of 23 controls, but only 6 of 20 patients, released over 20% of the total available leukocyte histamine. The response to anti-IgE concentrations of 1.66, 0.33, 0.066, and 0.013 mug antibody N/ml was significantly lower in patients than in co...
